HEARING ARRANGEMENTS OF TYPHOON OR RAINSTORM WARNINGS

A.  When Tropical Cyclone Signal Nos. 1 & 3 or Yellow & Red Rainstorm Warning Signal is issued 

 

The Board would have the hearings proceed at the scheduled date, time and place.

 

B.    When Pre-No. 8 Special Announcement is issued between 6:00 a.m. and 8:45 a.m.

 

When Pre-No. 8 Special Announcement is issued between 6:00 a.m. and 8:45 a.m., the Board would have the hearings scheduled in the morning session vacated until further notice.

 

C.   When Tropical Cyclone Signal No. 8 or above is issued

 

Hearings

 

All hearings that have been scheduled will be vacated.

 

Secretariat’s Office 

 

The office of Secretariat will also be closed.

 

D.   When Black Rainstorm Warning Signal is issued

 

Hearings

 

All hearings that have been scheduled will be vacated when a black rainstorm warning signal is issued before office opening hour or during office hours.

 

Secretariat’s Office

 

The office of the Secretariat will also be closed when a black rainstorm warning signal is issued before its opening hour.  If such signal is issued during office hours, the office of the Secretariat will remain open.

 

E.    When Tropical Cyclone Signal No. 8 or above or Black Rainstorm Warning Signal is lowered or cancelled

 

Resumption of Guardianship Hearings

 

If the signal is lowered or cancelled at or before 6:00 a.m. on a working day (i.e. Monday to Friday), the Board will resume hearings at the scheduled time in the morning.

 

If the signal is lowered or cancelled between 6:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. or at 11:00 a.m. on a working day (i.e. Monday to Friday), the Board will resume hearing at the scheduled time in the afternoon. So, if you are supposed to attend the Board that afternoon, you are required to attend the Board for the hearing in that afternoon.

 

If the signal is lowered or cancelled after 11:00 a.m. on a working day (i.e. Monday to Friday), all hearings of the Board for the whole day will remain vacated.  If you are supposed to attend Board on that day, you are NOT required to attend the Board for the hearing.

 

Re-opening of office of Secretariat

 

If the signal is lowered or cancelled at or before 6:00 a.m. on a working day (i.e. Monday to Friday), the office of Secretariat will be opened as usual in the morning.

 

If the signal is lowered or cancelled between 6:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. or at 11:00 a.m. on a working day (i.e. Monday to Friday), the office of Secretariat will be re-opened at the usual time in the afternoon, i.e. 2:00 p.m.

 

If the signal is lowered or cancelled after 11:00 a.m. on a working day (Monday to Friday), subject to the circumstances prevailing at the time, the office of Secretariat may be re-opened in the afternoon as soon as practicable. However, the office of Secretariat will remain closed for the whole day if such signal is lowered or cancelled at or after 3:35 p.m. on a working day (Monday to Friday), i.e. two hours before the normal closing hour.

 

F.    Other information

 

The Board has made the following special arrangements for the submission of guardianship applications during the time when Secretariat’s office is closed under this policy.

 

When the Secretariat’s office is closed under this policy, guardianship applications may be submitted via facsimile to (852) 2739 7171 or email to gbenquiry@adultguardianship.org.hk and provided that a complete set of documents reaches the Secretariat’s office by facsimile or email within the Board’s original opening hours on the relevant day, and the original documents are delivered to the Secretariat’s office by the next working day and are confirmed to be valid by the designated staff of the Secretariat.
